This course is defined by you. The aim of the course is to give you 5 days of solid paddling. Depending on your starting point, we will work on the relevant skills to move you on in the sport, improve your knowledge, skills and technique to enable you to move towards your own personal goal. We can paddle on lakes and estuaries and gentle rivers, take in a variety of white water river trips and look at traditional canoe skills (such as sailing and poling) and wilderness paddling. We will also look at personal gear choices, safety skills, and rescue skills. The course will be tailored to the participants needs, depending on your personal standard. What to bring We provide Canoes, paddles, wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets. You need to bring swimwear and a towel, and a couple of old pairs of trainers you don’t mind getting wet. If you already own suitable paddling clothing – a dry-cag or wetsuit boots, for example – or your own equipment, please feel free to bring it, as it’s always nicer to use your own familiar kit. If you are bringing your own Canoe your instructor will need to check it is suitable to use for the types of paddling you will be doing. A large towel is useful, as you may want something to change under on the riverside. Come prepared for the best and the worst of weather; remember sun cream in summer. |
