The SWITCH 16 week course is the longer version of our standard SWITCH course this is an enhanced program again designed for those who wish to change career or need that way into the industry they wish to work in.

Again like the 6 week course it is ideal for those who have a little knowledge of outdoor sports or a keen interest. This course will take you to a higher level so depending on your previous experience you we be or well on you way to being an instructor.

You will gain the qualifications to run kayak and canoe sessions, mountain bike sessions, gorge walks, assisting on climbing sessions and have the experience you need to run bushcraft sessions.

This course not only gives you the some of the qualifications you need to become an instructor but also the experience assisting and running sessions that the shorter course does not. As you pass the qualifications you will be running sessions with assistance to give that real skill of dealing with client groups.

The qualifications you will gain are:

1 Star and 2 Star in 2 disciplines of paddlesport. Open Canoe and Kayak.

- These are the person skills awards

3 Star in one of or both of the above paddlesport disciplines.

UKCC BCU Level 1 Coach, Canoe/Kayak

- This is the British Canoe Union coaching qualification to teach people on flat water in canoe or kayak. This course being part of the new UKCC (United Kingdom Coaching Certificate) means you learn the coaching skills that you can then take to other sports if you so wish.

MIAS Level 1 or 2

-Mountain Bike Instructors Award Scheme. This award depending on the level means you can run mountain bike session. The level 1 or 2 depends on what previous experience you have and whether you have group leading experience.

First Aid, 16 hour

-This is the 2 day REC first aid course an essential for any outdoor instructor.

Gorge Walking Leader training

- There is no specific qualification for this new activity as it is covered by other qualifications. We train you to become a Gorge Walk Leader.

Bushcraft training

- We will get you ready to run bushcraft courses and up to standard to do your IOL bushcraft practitioners course.

Climbing

-We teach you everything you need to do your SPA (Single Pitch Award) Training and help you get to get ready for your assessment.

This course is a great introduction and progression in the outdoor activities industry, we pack a lot into this 16 week it is not easy but you will learn a great deal. This course will give you a lot of experience and a real start into the outdoor activities industry. The qualifications you will gain on this course will set you at the same level as people working in the industry
