SWITCH 6 Week Outdoor Pursuits Instructor Training Course

The SWITCH course is designed for those who wish to change career or just need that way into the industry they wish to work in.

 

This course is ideal for those who have a little knowledge of outdoor sports or a keen interest. You may have little or no instructor/coaching experience or qualifications this is no problem. On this 6 week course we take people from complete novice to a trainee instructor. You will gain the qualifications to run kayak and canoe sessions, mountain bike sessions, gorge walks and be well on the way to assisting on climbing sessions.

  

The qualifications you will gain are:

 

1 Star and 2 Star in 2 disciplines of paddle sport. Open Canoe and Kayak.

- These are the person skills awards

  UKCC BCU Level 1 Coach, Canoe/Kayak

- This is the British Canoe Union coaching qualification to teach people on flat water in canoe or kayak. This course being part of the new UKCC (United Kingdom Coaching Certificate) means you learn the coaching skills that you can then take to other sports if you so wish.

 

 

MIAS Level 1 or 2

-Mountain Bike Instructors Award Scheme. This award depending on the level means you can run mountain bike session. The level 1 or 2 depends on what previous experience you have and whether you have group leading experience.

  

First Aid, 16 hour

-This is the 2 day REC first aid course an essential for any outdoor instructor.

 

 

Gorge Walking Leader training

- There is no specific qualification for this new activity as it is covered by other qualifications. We train you to become a Gorge Walk Leader.

 

 

Climbing

- We get you ready for you SPA (Single Pitch Award) Training

   

This course is a great introduction and progression in the outdoor activities industry, we pack a lot into this six weeks it is not easy but you will learn a great deal.
